Creative Writing Workshops 2026

Thanks to a grant from National Lottery Arts Council England, we are proud to collaborate with The Writers Block, MED Theatre, Doorstep Arts and Torre Abbey to offer Torbay schools 30 full days of creative activity in 2026 free of charge. We are taking as our inspiration both Agatha Christie's skill at writing character, plot and mystery and her love of Dartmoor.

Creative Writing Workshops 2026 are designed by The Writers Block for Agatha Christie Festival in partnership with Torre Abbey learning department.

Children at Torbay schools at Years 5/6 are offered a choice of two dates, one in the Summer Term and one at the start of the Autumn to come to Torre Abbey and find inspiration in the 12^th^ century Abbey's magnificent surroundings, facilitated by the specialist skills of two professional writers, designed to motivate even the most reluctant young writer.

If your school lacks minibus transport, we will be pleased to arrange this for you at no cost.

Summer Term Opportunity

Monday 22 June -- Friday 26 June 2026

A series of 5 full day workshops for children at Years 5,6. The workshop sessions run from 10.00-14.00.

Autumn Term Opportunity

Monday 14 September -- Friday 18 September.

A series of 5 full day workshops for children at Years 5,6. The workshops sessions run from 10.00-14.00

We will also be offering teachers an opportunity to attend CPD to continue to share the experience with more children back in the classroom.

We will be publishing more detail of this year's mystery theme in April and sending out formal invitations for your Torbay school to join us.
