Agatha Christie Festival 2021

Tony Medawar continued as director of the festival with another excellent programme of speakers including Kate Mosse, Anthony Horowitz, Sophie Hannah, Dr Mark Aldridge, Carla Valentine and Martin Edwards (the President of the Detection Club) who delivered a writing workshop.

Torre Abbey also hosted an exhibition called Destination Unknown, kindly curated and sponsored by the Christie Archive Trust and covering Agatha’s life from the 1930’s onwards and her second marriage to archaeologist Max Mallowan. Other festival highlights included the UK professional premiere of Agatha Christie’s The Stranger as a rehearsed and costumed reading, the film premiere of Agatha Swims and an event called Come Dance with Me, which allowed people from Torbay care homes and supported settings (who had been very isolated due to Covid) to come together for a tea dance.
