Over the festival weekend, the historic gardens of Torre Abbey will come alive with music, films, stalls and gastronomic delights for all the family. Settle down for a deck chair picnic and soak up the atmosphere!
Inspired by Agatha Christie’s love of Devon and her journeys across the Middle East, enjoy food and drink from around the world from excellent Middle Eastern cuisine to fresh cream teas, premium coffee, organic cocktails inspired by Torre Abbey’s botanical gardens, plus a bar well stocked with local craft beers.
On Sunday, a concert in the outdoor stage brings together locally-based artists with international musicians for a celebration of sound from across the world and through the ages. On Saturday evening enjoy one of our classic Agatha Christie films from the Open Air Cinema as the evening draws in.
There’ll be plenty to keep young ones entertained throughout the weekend too – become a detective on our Agatha Christie Mystery Trail, get mucky making garden potions, learn about languages around the world, become a young archaeologist or create your own crime scene inspired by forensic model-makers and get creative with Encounters Arts.
The Garden Marketplace brings book-sellers, artisans and traders for your perusing pleasure. Publications by Agatha Christie, speakers and artists, alongside limited editions, gifts and other artefacts will be available to buy.
Garden Party visitors can also explore the grandiose rooms and labyrinthine corridors of Torre Abbey as IACF take over with interventions throughout the building inspired by Agatha Christie’s motivations and passions. Exhibitions include original proofs by William Blake, work by regional, national and international artists, with films and interventions throughout the Art Collections, exploring connections across crime, time and place.
