Lucy Foley – The Hunting Party

Nine friends ring in the New Year in a remote luxury lodge deep in the Scottish Highlands.

The celebrations begin – full of glamour, glitz and excess.

But the next 48 hours will see the festivities overflow with tension, open old wounds, and expose friendship-destroying secrets…

The clock has barely struck 12 when a broken body is found in the snow. It’s not an accident. It’s a murder among friends.

When a thick blizzard descends, the group are trapped, surrounded by wilderness and cloaked in suspicion.

Lucy Foley’s debut crime novel is a glamorous and chilling update of the country house murder mystery set in the beautiful and wild landscape of the Scottish Highlands.  We are delighted to welcome Lucy to discuss the intricacies and influences of plotting a best-selling crime thriller.

Lucy Foley studied English Literature at Durham and UCL universities and worked for several years as a fiction editor in the publishing industry, before leaving to write full-time. ‘The Hunting Party’ is her debut crime novel, inspired by a particularly remote spot in Scotland that fired her imagination. Lucy is also the author of three historical novels, which have been translated into sixteen languages. Her journalism has appeared in ES Magazine, Sunday Times Style, Grazia and more. She has taken part in literary festivals across the country including Greenwich, Noireland, Chichester, Isle of Wight and Wilderness Festival.

There will be BSL interpretation for this event.

‘Proves that the traditional country-house murder formula… can still work brilliantly… Foley is superb’ – The Times

‘the reveal is as crazy as anything conjured up by Agatha Christie’ – Sunday Times

‘Excels in the delicate, merciless filleting of interpersonal rivalries and jealousies… a modern take on the “closed world” country house mystery’ – Guardian
